This Privacy Policy explains how Fridgeful ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Fridgeful application — including the version available on Google Play — and our website at fridgeful.app (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

Who we are

Fridgeful is a kitchen and recipe management app that helps you track your pantry, manage recipes, and build shopping lists. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at fridgefulapp@gmail.com.

Information we collect

• Account information — your email address and display name when you create an account.
• App content you create — pantry items, recipes, shopping lists, favourites, and related details you enter.
• Meal photos — photos you attach to recipes are stored locally on your device (in your browser's storage) and are not uploaded to our servers or synced between devices.
• Voice input — if you use the voice-to-pantry feature, your spoken words are converted to text by your device or web browser's built-in speech recognition. Some browsers (for example Chrome) do this by sending the audio to the browser or operating-system provider (such as Google); that step is handled by your browser, not by us, and is subject to that provider's privacy policy. We never receive or store the audio — only the resulting text. That text is then sent to our AI provider to identify the grocery items you mentioned (see "Automated processing and AI" below).
• Technical and usage data — basic information such as device type, app interactions, and diagnostic data needed to operate and improve the Service.

How we use your information

• To provide and operate the Service (your account, pantry, recipes, and shopping lists).
• To improve, maintain, and secure the Service.
• To communicate with you about your account or important changes.

Automated processing and AI

To turn your voice-to-pantry text into a list of grocery items, we send the text transcript to our AI provider, Anthropic (the Claude API), which identifies the foods and quantities you mentioned. We send only the text — never audio — and only when you use the voice feature. Under Anthropic's API terms, this text is used to return a result for you and is not used to train their models. You always review and confirm the suggested items before anything is added to your pantry, so there is no automated decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Anthropic may process this text outside the UK and EEA (for example in the United States). Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, as required by law.

Advertising

Fridgeful does not display advertising. We do not use advertising identifiers, do not work with third-party ad networks, and do not track you across other apps or websites for advertising purposes. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and our Google Play Data safety details before any ads are shown.

How your data is stored and protected

Your account and app content are stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure) located in the European region. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us run the Service, and where required by law. These include:

• Microsoft Azure — cloud hosting and database storage (EU region).
• Anthropic — AI processing of voice-to-pantry text (see "Automated processing and AI").
• Your device or browser's speech-recognition provider, when you use voice input.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) as required by law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, or to delete your account and associated data, contact us at fridgefulapp@gmail.com.

Data retention

We keep your account information and app content for as long as your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your associated data, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Cookies and local storage

We use local storage on your device to keep you signed in and to store app data such as your meal photos. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate we will notify you in the app.

Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
